the roles in scouting

All adult leaders must be 21 years of age, and approved by the Pack Committee.  They must go through a Backgrounds check and Youth Protection Training. There are various Roles a parent or adult can take within the Cub Scout Pack, like the following:

Cubmaster(CM)/Assistant Cubmaster(ACM) – The CM/ACM are the individuals who are generally the most up front and visible of all the leaders. They are the Master of Ceremonies for the Pack events, and will lead the day to day meetings.

Den Leader(DL) – The DL will be the one who teaches, guides, mentors and becomes plain old silly with the Cubs as they learn on their Adventures. An adult, usually a parent, serves as a Den Leader. They carry out the activities related to adventures as they are presented in the Cub Scout’s handbook and the Den Leader Guide.

Committee Chair – The top volunteer in the pack is the Pack Committee Chair. They are responsible for ensuring enough qualified adult volunteers are in place to provide the program. They lead the pack committee meetings.

Committee – The individuals that make it happen. Each campout, ceremony, fundraiser, etc. needs to have a committee so that adequate preparation can take place.

the role of parents

In Cub Scouts, parent/guardian involvement is the key to your Cubs Success, it’s also required. Unlike the Troop, cub scouts parents must be there with their Cub. While your den leader may lead the charge in the den meetings, a parent guides their cub, mentors their cub, corrects their cub and celebrates alongside their cub as they complete advancements. It is critical that YOU are there alongside them throughout their journey in Cub Scouts.

A lot of the advancements to be completed had steps to do at home. When completed, they get a belt loop or a pin (Webelos / AOL). Receiving that award creates memories for them, for us as leaders and for YOU. Help your Cub Succeed.
