Frequently asked questions
have a question? hope this helps
Why should our family join?
To prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the core values. In other words, Cub Scouts enriches the lives of your child by teaching them character development, support, friendship and how to respect everyone around them. It helps them to become better individuals and leaders, so they can live a more fulfilling life. Ready to Join? Click here!
What supplies do we need?
The minimum required items are a uniform top and a handbook (provided). The uniform can be found here.
How often do you meet and is there a time commitment?
Currently our Cub Scout pack meets on Monday evening, at 6:45 pm. We typically meet as a pack prior to breaking off into our individual dens. We generally meet for a total of 1 hour, ending around 7:45 pm.
We also try to meet once a month for an outdoor activity. This could be camping, hiking, fishing, or something to get our move on. Check our calendar out for upcoming events. (We’re not in session during the summer)
Is there an age requirement?
Cub Scouts require the minimum age to be 5, or in Kindergarten with our oldest being 5th grade.
How can I help?
Ask! Ask! Ask! We are always looking for individuals who would like to volunteer to help. Each Den requires a leader, and each outing requires setup. Please ask if you even have the slightest interest. We guarantee it’ll be worth it.
Can parents come?
Absolutely, in fact, we require someone to be present at the Cub Scout level. This helps maintain a 1 to 1 ratio and also allows Cubs to transition into activities easier with a parent / guardian present.
What is a pack versus a den?
When referring to the pack, we are talking about everyone in their entirety. Grades K – 5th as a group, complete our pack. Each individual grade, K, 1st, 2nd, etc.. make up a Den. See our Advancements page for a breakdown of Den ages and requirements.
How do I become a Leader?
Get Involved, and Ask! Ask! Ask! Please note that if you’re interested in becoming a leader, you must complete the required training for the role you are interested in and pass a background check. You must also complete the Youth Protection training and present your certificate to the Cub Master to keep on file. Get familiar with the requirements here.
